San Bruno’s Troop 72 was formed in November 1919 and is one of the longest running Scout units in the Bay Area. We are an original off shoot in the Peninsula of the first Scout unit in San Francisco. The troop has been in continuous service for a very proud 92 years and counting. The South San Francisco Elks Lodge has been our chartering organization since the 1980’s and we regularly provide service work in support of their efforts in the community.
We meet Thursday evenings, year-round at 7:00 P.M. During the school year we meet at John Muir School. Meetings last 90 minutes.
High Adventure
Troop 72 places an emphasis on high adventure. We plan at least one weekend outdoor activity a month. Most months, those events include opportunities to camp outdoors.
During the summer, we feature our weeklong high adventure trip. Recent treks included backpacking in or around Yosemite, rafting on the Klamath River and a bike trek in the Humboldt Redwoods. This trip is always popular and is more rewarding than can be imagined.
Our Troop also spends one week each year attending one of several summer camps in Northern California.
