Welcome to Troop 72 and 4172

San Bruno’s Troop 72 received its first charter from the Boy Scout of America in May 1917. We are one of the longest running Scout units in the Bay Area and have been in continuous service since 1922. On February 1, 2019, the first day such a unit could be formed, we founded our partner Girls Troop 4172. The South San Francisco Elks Lodge has been our chartering organization since the early 1960’s. We regularly provide service in support of their efforts in the community.

Troop 72 celebrated 100 years of Scouting in November 2019

We meet Thursday evenings, year-round at 7:00 p.m. Meetings last 90 minutes. During the school year we meet at John Muir School and during the summer months we meet at San Bruno City Park. Our Troops place an emphasis on high adventure. We plan at least one weekend outdoor activity a month. Most months, those events include opportunities to camp outdoors. Our Troop spends one week each year at summer camp. We have attended Wente for the past several years. During the summer, we feature our weeklong high adventure trip, such as backpacking in the Sierras. Our members are from San Bruno and the surrounding communities.

If you are a boy or girl between 11 and 17 and interested in joining Scouts, you can reach us through the "Contact Us" link on the left side of this page. Follow the "About Us" link to the left to learn more about us.

We Survived Philmont!

Posted on Jul 29 2022 - 7:31am
We completed over 100 miles of hiking (including time without packs). It was tough, with some of us making it to the top of Mount Baldy and all of us making it to BaldyTown at 10,000 feet. We all did it!  We are now on the bus back to Albuquerque and the bus seems a lot quieter this time.

Congrats to our Newest Eagle Scouts!
